NOMINATIONS  

 

The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce will recognize businesses, organizations and individuals for outstanding business achievement and the contributions made to the economic growth

and prosperity of the Kenora District.   

 

-      Any business in the Kenora District is eligible to be nominated.

 

-      Nominees may be nominated for more than one (1) award; however,  

       each award category must be submitted on a separate form.

 

-      Judging is based solely on the accompanying information. 

 

CATEGORIES 

 

  

YOUTH ENTREPRENEUR

 

Recognizes outstanding youth entrepreneurs (30 years of age and under). 

 

 

BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT 

 

This award honours a business who has recently taken steps to improve their company’s image in some way.

 

 

TOURISM / HOSPITALITY  

 

The recipient would demonstrate their customer service, innovation and positive participation in our community encompassing quality business relations, economic development and business growth. 

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE EXCELLENCE 

 

2 AWARDS 

-STAFF UP TO 10 

-STAFF OVER 10 

 

This award will recognize a local business, its management and staff for successfully demonstrating quality customer service.  An organization that is appreciated for it’s helpful and efficient service, dedicated to customer satisfaction and willing to go the extra mile. 

  

NEW BUSINESS (UNDER 2 YEARS) 

 

This award is presented to a company or individual who has been in business for less than two (2) years and demonstrates creativity in the spirit of business development. 

 

INNOVATIVE SMALL BUSINESS

 

This award recognizes a business who has demonstrated ground breaking/original product or service that sets the company apart from others, has demonstrated advanced or new use of technology, and/or has engaged the community. 

 

 

ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR  

 

An award will be presented to an outstanding business owner, new or existing, who in the last 12 months had developed their business to meet changing community and consumer demands.  They will have provided a high level of business service, as well being involved in the community. 

 

 

HOME BASED BUSINESS

 

This award honours a home operated business that consistently shows excellence and quality standing behind their products and service.  They will have established strong relationships with their customers and is recognized for excellence in customer service.  They will conduct their business as a business not a hobby, show potential for future growth and operate the business as a primary or secondary source of income.  Must be in business at least one year. 

 

 

THE MAYOR’S AWARD

 

This award honours an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the business community through their involvement with and support of community events and projects.   

A citizen who volunteers and donates to special interest within the business community. 

 

BUSINESS OWNER / MANAGER OF THE YEAR 

 

This award honours a business owner/manager who staff believes them to be the best employer to work for in the following areas:  fair wages, ethical treatment, equal benefits, good work/family balance practices, and respectful treatment of employees. 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL BUSINESS  

 

This award will recognize the efforts of a local business who have made a significant contribution and commitment to improving their environment performance and tackling climate change and showing outstanding concern for the environment.
