Enhanced Downtown Maintenance Program Welcomed by KDCC
The Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce is applauding the City of Kenora’s new strategy to better repair, clean and maintain the community’s downtown core.
General Manager of Operations with the City of Kenora, Keenan Boles, recently detailed the city’s new Operations Enhancement Strategy to the Harbourtown Biz and KDCC – a pilot project to enhance cleaning measures in Kenora’s downtown core and Harbourfront with additional staff.
Priorities and enhancements in the new strategy include increasing staff members from 4 to 10 throughout the summer months, increasing days of service from 5 days per week to 7, and new foot patrol routes to focus on key hotspots in the area with dedicated downtown, boardwalk, and waterfront teams.
Boles notes the strategy will focus on cleanliness, proactive maintenance, event support, graffiti reporting and removal, route metrics, hotspot reporting, and an improved internal reporting process.
“Our downtown is often the first impression visitors have of Kenora, and it’s a place our residents take pride in,” says KDCC President, Tim Gosnell.
“The Chamber is pleased to see the City investing in enhanced maintenance and beautification efforts that will help create a cleaner, more welcoming environment for everyone. We appreciate the City’s commitment to supporting our business community and look forward to seeing the positive difference this initiative makes throughout the downtown core.”
The City is encouraging residents to submit information on areas that need the most attention by visiting their Request for Service contact form here:
