Born and raised in Kenora Ontario, Ryan has long held a passion for media and the creative arts – going back to high school communications classes and theatre. I began my media career in 2013 as a Beaver Brae Senior as the Weekend News Reporter and Journalist with Q104, KenoraOnline, and GoldenWest Broadcasting, leading to over a decade of multi-media experience across Treaty #3.

After a brief hiatus with college and an Electrical Apprenticeship 2015, I followed my passion back to Journalism, Radio & Contemporary Media studies with Durham College in 2017, finding my way back to Kenora and Radio with Q104. With a move to Dryden in 2019, Ryan operated Q104’s Dryden office, news station, and online portal DrydenNow. After a company merger in 2022, Ryan began work as a Senior Reporter with 89.5 the Lake, CKDR, 99.9 The Bay, and CFOB 93.1 with Acadia Broadcasting.

Seeking a change, Ryan transitioned into a Communications Specialist role with Ogimaawabiitong – Kenora Chiefs Advisory in 2023, which allowed me to deepen my connection with the Treaty #3 culture, and honed his skills with graphic design, photography, videography, website design, and social media management, leading to a promotion to Content and Social Media Lead in 2024.

After a funding cut and subsequent layoff in July, 2025 – Ryan moved into the Communications Lead and Events Planner position with the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce, helping to revitalize the KDCC’s impact and relevancy for Kenora’s business community. He was promoted to Executive Director in December, 2025.
