Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce Hires Local, Expands Visibility

The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce is expanding its team to better support Kenora’s business community and our members. By accessing provincial and federal funding initiatives, the Chamber has hired Communications Specialist Ryan Forbes and Marketing & Media Intern Xavier Danieher.

“We’re thrilled to be able to expand our team with two Kenora community members and increase both our organization’s visibility and our business community’s,” says Manager of the Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce, Alexander Evans. “A big thank you goes out to both the provincial and federal governments for this exciting opportunity to elevate our operations.”

Forbes, with over a decade of experience in northwestern Ontario’s media industry as a journalist and communications lead, will work to promote the KDCC’s events for the upcoming year, enhance the Chamber’s online presence, and revitalize the KDCC branding. Danieher, a local high-school student, has already shown great success in media and marketing initiatives, and demonstrates a strong, positive attitude towards supporting and highlighting businesses in the region.

Funding was provided for these positions through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, as well as the federal government’s Canada Summer Jobs Program and its Youth Employment and Skills Strategy.

“We’re excited to be able to offer more opportunities to highlight businesses, community members, and leaders in the Kenora business community through this funding,” says President of the Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce, Andy Scribilo. “We look forward to elevating the Chamber’s communications and marketing strategy to better engage with the public, our members, stakeholders, and the community as a whole.”

First established in 1888, the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce works to promote civic, industrial, and agricultural progress and business growth in our community, as well as work towards new legislation and lobby all levels of government on behalf of our businesses. The Chamber also hosts community events such as the annual Kenora Business Awards, Home Show, and KDCC Charity Golf Tournament.

Located at 101 Park Street, the Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce actively works with and supports members of the Harbourtown Biz, Kenora Business Partners, Tourism and Economic Development Advisory Committee, Harbourfront Business Development Steering Committee, and City of Kenora Official Plan & Zoning By-law Review, as well as being a standing member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
