KDCC Supports Community Foundation at Annual Giving Challenge
Leadership of the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce were honoured to take part in the Kenora and Lake of Woods Regional Community Foundation’s Annual Giving Challenge!
KDCC President Andy Scribilo, Manager Alex Evans, and Communications Lead Ryan Forbes joined members of the Foundation at the Northern Credit Union on September 25 for their annual fundraising initiative to support local charities in the Kenora area.
“This is the day where we build our endowment fund,” explained Executive Director of the Community Foundation, Lynn McAughey. “In 2004, the Community Foundation started with $0. Today, I’m proud to say that $10 million has been gifted to the Community Foundation to support our local charities and not-for-profit organizations. It’s a big gift to our community.”
“A special thank you to the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce for their donation,” she adds. “They’re great partners, and we really appreciate their partnership in helping to make Kenora a great place to live.”

The KDCC was able to raise $750 for the Foundation through a 50/50 Putting Contest at our 2nd annual KDCC & LOWBIC Business Appreciation Golf Tournament, volunteered by the Foundation’s Shelley Hinds and Darlene MacGillivray.
“It’s an honour to be here today standing alongside the Community Foundation in celebrating the incredible impact they’ve had in our community,” said Evans, in an interview with 89.5 The Lake. “$6 million in grants awarded since 2004 is an achievement that speaks volumes to your dedication, vision, and trust the community places in your work.”
“It’s a great opportunity for people to invest back in their community,” added Scribilo, in the same interview. “So many places donate back to the Foundation, and we fully support them with whatever we can do. It’s an honour to work with them,” he adds.
The Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation has distributed over $6 million in grants to local charities and organizations since 2004, including Triple P.L.A.Y., the Mount Evergreen Ski Hill, the Lake of the Woods Museum, and many more.
