Direct Flights Between Kenora and Thunder Bay to Launch January 2026
The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce (KDCC) is excited to promote and support the Kenora Airport’s new regional air service, connecting residents and businesses to Thunder Bay with convenient connections for business travel, medical appointments, tourism, and more.
The Kenora Airport Authority held their launch event on December 20th, celebrating their new partnership with North Star Air, including comments from community leaders and a tour of the PC-12 aircraft, prizes and giveaways, and media interviews.
“This new partnership with North Star Air marks an exciting milestone for the Kenora Airport and our community,” says Ryan Reynard, Chairman of the Kenora Airport Authority.
“A direct link to Thunder Bay strengthens our regional transportation network and supports easier access to health services, commerce, business connectivity, and general travel opportunities across Northern Ontario and beyond,” he adds.
Earlier this month, the Kenora Airport Authority announced the new partnership to bring direct, scheduled passenger air service between Kenora and Thunder Bay, beginning on January 15, 2026.
The KAA says the new route will enhance regional connectivity, strengthen economic links, and provide residents, businesses, and visitors with fast, reliable travel between two of northwestern Ontario’s most important hubs, marking a significant step in improving transportation options for Kenora and surrounding areas.
“North Star Air is proud to partner with the Kenora Airport Authority to expand passenger service in northwestern Ontario,” says Jeff Stout, President/COO, North Star Air. “This new route reflects our commitment to helping communities stay connected and supporting economic growth across the region.”
As of January 15th, the service will run five times a week, direct to Thunder Bay and back to Kenora using a 9-seater PC-12 aircraft. It will depart from Kenora at 7 am (CST) and arrives in Thunder Bay by 9:15 (EST) every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It will then depart Thunder Bay at 6 pm (EST) and arrives in Kenora at 6:15 (CST) every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Fares range from $350 to $750, including checked bags and a carry-on.
